Frequently asked questions

What is an overview on the Radar?

It’s a page that sums up a segment of the catalog (a price range, a use, a brand) in numbers: how many models there are, the median price and the median spec score, what changed since the previous collection and how the segment compares to the whole catalog. Each model counts once, with the versions inside the card. Each number shows the collection date.

Why don’t some segments have a page?

A segment only becomes a page when it has enough models in the day’s catalog (from 4 to 10 models, depending on the segment): with fewer, the median and the chart say nothing. Left out today, with the number of models in parentheses: Tablets up to £150 (6), Tablets over £1,200 (0), Tablets with Apple M chip (iPad Air and iPad Pro) (1), Tablets with Apple A chip (iPad and iPad mini) (1), Tablets with MediaTek Dimensity chip (2), Tablets with MediaTek Helio or Kompanio chip (3), Tablets with Samsung Exynos chip (2), Tablets with Unisoc or Allwinner chip (0), Tablets with 12 GB of RAM or more (2), Tablets with 64 GB of storage or less (4), Tablets with 512 GB of storage or more (2), Tablets with iPadOS (iPad) (2), Tablets for studying and note-taking (5), Kids tablets (1), Amazon (1), Apple (2), Microsoft (1), TCL (1). If the catalog gains models, the page is created in the next collection.

What happens when a segment loses models?

The page never turns into an error: the address stays live. If the segment falls below the minimum, the page gets a notice and stays indexable for a while; below the minimum minus two for three collections in a row, it leaves the search engine index (noindex) and returns when the segment recovers the minimum.

How often do the overviews change?

Every day, with each collection. The pages are generated again with the day’s catalog, and the "What changed" section compares with the previous collection. This edition is from 6 November 2026.

Where the numbers come from

Lowest price seen for the product on Amazon.co.uk, delivered to London SW1A 1AA, on the day it was read, including VAT. Each overview uses only the tablets in the day’s catalog that meet the segment rule. The micro-indicator on each card shows the segment’s price range on a logarithmic scale of the whole catalog, with the median marked.

The overviews describe the Radar catalog, not the whole market, and the price is the one collected on the date shown.
