Glossary

Median
The middle value of a sorted list. Half the tablets cost less than it and half cost more; one very expensive tablet doesn’t pull it up.
RAM
The tablet’s working memory: how many apps stay open without reloading. The iPad doesn’t list the RAM in the listing; for it, the version is the storage.
Storage
The space that holds the system, apps, photos and downloaded videos. Part of it comes already taken by the system. Some Android tablets accept a memory card; the iPad doesn’t.
ppi
Pixels per inch: the resolution divided by the screen size. The higher, the sharper the text up close. It’s how the Radar compares screens of different sizes.
Wi-Fi or Cellular
The Wi-Fi version only connects over a wireless network. The Cellular version (4G or 5G) accepts a carrier SIM and costs more.
Chip
The tablet’s processor (Apple M or A, Snapdragon, Dimensity, Helio). The score compares by line and generation, using the Radar’s table, and doesn’t measure real performance.
Spec sheet score
Score from 0 to 10 that the Radar calculates from performance, screen, longevity, battery and features e recency. It doesn’t measure what the specs don’t show.

Frequently asked questions

What is the median price of a new tablet today?

In the 06/11/2026 catalog, the median price is £229, across 55 new tablets from trusted sellers. Half cost less than that and half cost more.

How much does each score point cost?

It depends on the range: about £132 among the lowest scores and about £107 among the highest. The math divides the difference in median price by the difference in median score between neighboring ranges.

Why the median and not the average?

Because a few very expensive tablets pull the average up and hide the price most people pay. The median shows the tablet in the middle.

How often does the overview change?

Every day, with each new collection. Each collection saves a snapshot of the price and score of each tablet, and the "What changed" section compares today’s with the previous one and, when available, with the one from about a week earlier.

Where the numbers come from
