What size is your TV?

The price of each size step and where it jumps.

Step 1 of 5

Each dot is a TV from today’s catalog. The coloured mark is the range’s median and the number on top is how much it rises over the previous range. Price is on a logarithmic scale: each division is worth more dollars than the one before.

Step 2 of 5

Range by range

Starting at, median and cost per inch.

Each range leads to its overview, with the TVs, the ranking and what changed since the last update.

Range by range: how many TVs are in each range, the lowest price and the median
RangeTVsFromMedianCost per inchSee the TVs

70″ to 75″45$798$1,400$19See 45 TVs
77″ or more58$1,098$2,249$26See 58 TVs

Dividing the price by the diagonal, the median goes from $10 per inch at up to 32″ to $26 at 77″+. Cost per inch goes up with size, so it only compares well within the same range.

Step 3 of 5

Where the price jumps

Each range’s median against the previous one’s.

The median price rises with each step, but not evenly. The biggest jump is 91% going from up to 32″ to 40-43″, from $288 to $548. The smallest is 28%, from 58-65″ to 70-75″. When the jump is big, it’s worth looking at the step below before settling on a size.

  • up to 32″ to 40-43″+91%median from $288 to $548

Step 4 of 5

The highest-scoring TV on each criterion

Chart criteria, range by range.

Each cell shows the highest-scoring TV on that criterion; in a tie, the cheapest. A TV without the data for the criterion is left out of it. It is a spec sheet score, not a lab test.

Swipe the table sideways to see all the ranges.

Step 5 of 5

What about the couch distance?

The Radar’s rule of thumb, which is not a standard.

If you prefer to start from the room, the Radar’s rule of thumb is to sit at 1.5 to 2.5 times the diagonal. At 2 meters, that points to TVs of 31″ to 52″ (up to 32″, 40-43″, 50-55″). At 3 meters, 47″ to 79″ (50-55″, 58-65″, 70-75″, 77″+). It is a Radar rule, not a standard.

How to read these numbers

On Nov 6, 2026, the Radar’s catalog has 331 TVs in 6 size ranges. The median price goes from $288 (up to 32″) to $2,249 (77″+). The biggest jump between neighboring ranges is 91%, from up to 32″ to 40-43″. The matrix shows, for each chart criterion, the highest-scoring TV in each range. Everything comes from the day’s catalog and changes with each update.

Frequently asked questions

How much does each inch of TV cost?

By the median of the Nov 6, 2026 catalog, from $10 per inch for up to 32″ TVs to $26 for 77″+ TVs. Cost per inch goes up with size, so it only compares well within the same range.

Where does the TV price jump from one size to the next?

On Nov 6, 2026, the biggest jump in the median is 91%, going from up to 32″ to 40-43″ (from $288 to $548). The median is the middle value: half the TVs in the range cost less and half cost more.

How do you choose a TV size by couch distance?

The Radar’s rule of thumb is to sit at 1.5 to 2.5 times the diagonal: at 2 meters, 31″ to 52″; at 3 meters, 47″ to 79″. It is a starting point, not a standard. The size guide has the calculator and each TV’s width.

Does size count toward the spec sheet score?

No. Bigger is not better: the right size depends on the couch distance and the space on the TV stand or wall. That is why size is a filter, and the score looks at panel, picture, system and connections.

Where the numbers come from

Lowest price seen for the product on Amazon.ca, delivered to Toronto M5V 3L9, on the day it was read, before GST/HST. The ranges are the same as the Size filter on the chart. The count, lowest price and median come from the catalog of the latest update; the cost per inch is the median price divided by each TV’s diagonal; the jump compares one range’s median with the previous range’s. Each criterion in the matrix shows the range’s highest-scoring TV (tie: the cheapest).

The catalog gathers the TVs the Radar tracks, and the price is the lowest from a trusted store on the update date. The spec sheet score does not measure real contrast, calibration or durability. The couch rule is a rule of thumb from the Radar, not a standard.
